Good batteries reflect the costs of a good ebike. Cheap ebikes use Lithium derived batteries that quickly deteriorate and fail to hold a charge under load. We use robust ‘value-for-money’ LiMn04 (Lithium Manganese) batteries for our folding models and top quality LiFePO4 Polymer (gelled electrolyte with 'pouch' casings) for our GS-3616 and guarantee that they will last the distance. We keep our batteries in cold storage to reduce the effects of ageing and balance the cells (energy density matching) before we deliver your new ebike and once again for free after 6 months. It’s all about power and loss; a 24v10ah (amps per hour) battery stores about 240watt of power while a 36v10ah battery stores 360watt. This means that a 200watt motor can run full power for 1.2 hours on one charge of a 24v battery while a 36v battery lasts 1.8 hours (30% longer). More importantly, the current, and therefore losses in the wiring harness, drawn from a 24v battery to supply 200watts is 8.3amps while the current from a 36v battery is only 5.5amps. Still, 24v in ebikes is widely used because batteries typically have fewer cells and fewer complications.
No license or registration is required to ride ebicycles with motors below 200watt. Cheap models waste much of that power on inefficient electro magnets, brushes and planetary gears; we use 200watt power limited (designed for more) freewheeling hub motors with permanent 'rare earth' magnets and a quality wiring harness that brings noticeably more power to the wheel rather than waste it on noise and friction.
A typical 50cc two stroke petrol scooter (sounds like an angry bee) produces about 2.8Kw of power which requires a driver’s license, registration and oily fuel from a petrol station. Ecyclists produce less than 20% of that power but their environmental foot print is GREEN and they can silently go where the others can’t.
Our ebikes are made from the high strength-to-ratio aluminium alloy 6061 which is securely welded to form a strong folding frame that easily supports up to 95kg in an urban environment -our GS-3616 supports 120kg. We use forged hubs (not cast), extruded rims and 1.8mm (15 gauge) stainless spokes.
Folding ebikes have small wheels because they make things easier to fold and store. Larger wheels ride more comfortably and have higher gear ratios but rims and spokes distort more easily when the going gets heavy. Essentially; bigger wheels are better on rough roads where speed is important, smaller wheels are better in town traffic where maneuverability and compactness is important. Our GS-3616 has the best of both worlds with 26" (66cm) wheels and a development of over 8.3 meters. Higher gear ratios are available.

Power Assist System refers to a torque or rotation sensor mounted on the crank. Our folding ebikes are pre-set to deliver ~1:1 power assist with throttle override. Basically, turn the crank and the motor delivers over 50% of the power to make riding a breeze and hills effortless. Use the throttle for a flying start or when the motor needs to do more work.
Chargers are the bugbear of all Lithium batteries. Polymer batteries are especially finicky and prone to lose their theoretical superiority when overcharged or a cell might explode if the charger is faulty. We only use 'smart' chargers and stock inverters if you need to charge your e-bike from a source other than a power point (see Gadgets).
Most folding ebikes have low ratio gear problems (many turns of the crank, or pedals, for a slow speed) and rear wheel cassettes that twist the chain off the front crankset. A few cheap models are also known to put grease on trouser legs and snare clothes. Our folding models have large (52T) cranksets with double chain guards that won’t snare, smear or run off and a 6 speed Shimano cassette with an ‘over-drive’ ratio that’s one of the best around.
'Development' is the distance a bicycle travels per turn of the crank and can be found by multiplying the circumference of the wheel x ratio of the selected gear which, for our GS-101 model, is (2x3.14x23) 143cm x 4 (high gear) = 5.78mtrs. Our GS-3616 max development is 8.29mtrs. Contact us to improve ratios on competitor models.
We guarantee our ebikes against manufacturer defect for 12 months from date of purchase. At our discretion, we will repair or replace but guarantee is limited or void when the ebike or gadgets were used beyond design limitations.
We back our products well after the guarantee has lapsed. Contact us if you need a spare for one of our models and yes, we may be able to fix that dodgy e-bike you bought cheaply somewhere else.
Our Knock & Motion Detector sounds an ear piercing alarm when knocked or moved and easily attaches to anything that needs protecting. We stock remote controlled and time delayed units complete with rechargeable 9v batteries and charger, or units can be permanently wired in anything with a battery.
Our GPS Tracker is a transponder that sends its coordinates by SMS to your mobile phone when called or when it is moving without your permission. Free mapping software, like Google Earth, shows where it is or simply follow the directions of your SatNav device. Trackers work like mobile phones and need a SIM card and network provider which is where the hidden costs lie. Our trackers come ready to use complete with unlocked SIM and call credit that doesn't expire; no contracts, minimum to spend, flag, admin or exit fees and no post-pay bills, ever.

Essentially; we are not obliged to repair, replace, or refund when your ebike or gadget is not in our possession and it is damaged or lost in transit, or in an accident, or by illegal activity, or when you change your mind a few days after buying. Guarantee Greenspokes ebikes are guaranteed against manufacturer defect for 12 months from date of purchase, gadgets for 3 months. We will repair or replace but guarantee is limited or void when the ebike, or gadget, were used beyond design limitations including; over-load, unauthorized modifications, off-road & abuse, stunting and towing, parts swapping, commercial use and 3rd party re-sale.
Sending and Receiving goods Greenspokes shall not be liable for third party failure to deliver goods to the address nominated by the customer and costs to return goods to the address nominated by Greenspokes. The customer shall not be entitled to compensation if the goods are not accepted as delivered in good condition by Greenspokes at their nominated address.
Special Orders and Services are binding when the stipulated non-refundable deposit has been received by Greenspokes.
Loss Greenspokes shall not be liable for any loss suffered by the customer, their agent or third party, caused directly or indirectly by the illegal use of motor power over 200watts on public roads and/or consequences of failure of goods supplied or serviced by Greenspokes.
Returns and Refunds Except where legally obliged, Greenspokes shall not be required to accept the return of goods without prior approval. If accepted, returns are subject to inspection and a 5% daily depreciation of the purchase price.
Test Driving The driver accepts all risks associated with test driving a Greenspokes vehicle on public roads and indemnifies Greenspokes against any claim for compensation.
Skim the net and sweet promises of honor and quality will tempt many to buy their ebike cheaply ‘on-line’ from China. Reality is that there are those whom, with the support of shady officials and fraud enabling Banks, focus on foreigners to part with their money in return for knock-offs, rubbish or nothing. In the end, product guarantees are not enforceable, spare parts are not available and complaints are ignored and/or frustrated by the Great Fire Wall of China Censorship in China and Fraud Watchers and Google blogspot
